"Surgical stainless" or "nickle free" tags can be misleading and confusing!
All of the body jewelry for initial piercing at Mantis is internally threaded (or threadless) and either ASTM certified F-136 Titanium or 316LVM ASTM rated F-138 Stainless.
This means the material is considered implant grade and suitable for extended wear inside the body. Many times when you thought your piercing was "infected" it was really just a reaction to the metal quality or finish. The outside of all jewelry is hand polished to a mirror finish to ensure that no scuffs allow nasty bacteria to hide out.
Your body can tell the difference! Many piercing studios and mall stores carry this externally threaded 316L "surgical stainless" or incorrect alloys of titanium. We provide mill certificates to prove what our jewelry is composed of, just ask!
